Boracay ist ein Inselparadies Philippinen - von traumhaften Stränden und Korallenriffen umgeben – es gehoert zur Provinz Aklan, liegt ca.345 km südlich von Manila und ist tatsächlich ein Paradies. Boracay ist insgesamt nur sieben Kilometer lang und einen Kilometer breit an der engsten Stelle; liegt nördlich der Spitze von der Visayan Insel von Panay, und war ursprünglich Heimat vom Ati Stamm.
Die Provinz Aklan wurde im April 1956 unabhängig und Boracay blieb lange unerkannt; erst in den 70er Jahren begann der Tourismus und die Mund-zu-Mund-Propaganda der ‘Backpacker’ machte die Insel erst bekannt und populär in den 80er Jahren.

Boracay is an island paradise situted here in the Philippines and is surrounded by coral reefs. This island paradise is located in the Aklan Province which is 345 kms. South of Manila, and is indeed a paradise as anyone who has visited will confirm. The beaches are spectacular with it's amazing white sand which stretches on for kilometres.
The island is only seven kilometers long and one kilometer wide at the narrowest point, located just off the northern tip of Visayan island of Panay, originally it was home to the Ati tribe.
Boracay is part of the Aklan province, it became an independent province in April 1956 Formerly undiscovered, it was not until the 1970s that tourism began to develop in Boracay, the island became popular with backpackers in the 80's.
